Lamp Guide
You've chosen the style, the color, the mood, but you still need to choose the right size for your lamp so that it fits the space, and also the bulb to put in it! Here are my tips to help you make the right choices...
What size should I choose?
Perfect for small spaces
Model #1
With a size generally between 25 and 30 centimeters (20cm for "mini" models), lamp n°1 is ideal for small corners of the house: between two shelves, on a mantelpiece, window sill or radiator, it will bring a small, warm point of light to unexpected places!
For a charming bedside table
Model No. 2
Lamp n°2 are between 30 and 40 centimeters tall. Their size makes them perfect lamps for a bedside table or a small occasional table, next to an armchair or in an entryway. This is the "all-purpose" size, neither too big nor too small, that meets (almost) all needs and desires!
The lamp for wide open spaces
Model #3
With their large size - between 50 and 70cm and sometimes even more! - No. 3 lamps are suitable for large surfaces such as chests of drawers, sideboards or enfilades. Generally, the larger and more open the surface, the larger the lamp you can allow. Conversely, a lamp that is too small risks looking a little lost.
Which light bulb to choose?
Once you've chosen your lamp, you still need to choose the right bulb. There are generally 3 possible types of bulbs to fit your lamp's socket:
- Screw-in bulbs, to fit screw-in sockets. They come in 2 sizes, E27 (large base) or E14 (small base). The type of bulb suitable for your lamp will be specified on the product sheet or in your package!
- Bayonet bulbs: these are less common, but sometimes I may not be able to change the original socket to replace it with a screw-in socket, if it has been glued or mounted in a way that prevents it from being removed. There is only one type of bayonet bulb; the 2 small metal pins on the side of the base distinguish them from E14 or E27 bulbs.
Next, you need to choose the intensity. I can only recommend, of course, choosing a warm white and an intensity of 40W (5W LED) or max 60W (7W LED) for a warm light. For very small lamps, it can also be interesting to use a mini oven or fridge bulb (also used for nightlights) for a cozy little point of light.
